I received a text Jan17 that I am subscribed to SecretSalesCodes at Β£4.50 a month. I reported this to 3 only to be told I must have subscribed ( I hadn't) clicked a link (no) even saying that I could do it without realising. What sort of thing can you sign up to without realising if it's not a scam? Suggested I send STOP to the 60031 number in the message - I was reluctant because advice is that you don't respond to scams because you can actually trigger the process by acknowledging. 3 agreed to

Continued (part 3 - why is there a restriction on message length ?) .. I intent to phone the Post Office after this May Bank Holiday 2018 to see if the 'refund voucher' via text message is genuine. Since this from of payment (via text) is so easily used for unsolicited abuse/fraud, I believe the entire service should be terminated for good.

Continued ... I found that these were monthly payments of Β£1.50 to SecretSalesCodes. The provider was most unhelpful, suggesting that I must have phoned 60031 (I hadn't) l and only suggested calling the landline number provided. I did so and was greeted by an unexpectedly helpful agent. No doubt this front is helpful, so as to prevent allegations of fraud.They offered to reimburse me by means of a text message sent to my mobile, which could be redeemed at a Post Office. I had a similar experience to one featured. I received an unsolicited text message informing me the I had subscribed to SecterSalesCodes (of no interest to me) run by an outfit called Mobtech, using the short number 60031. The text included the information that I should send the message STOP to 60031 to prevent Β£4.50 from being deducted from my phone credit each month and a London area contact phone number. Same here recieved text today. After seeing advice here i contacted Virgin who put a restriction on them. I will be following ip as soln as GDPR comes in and gonna take them to the cleaners.

Had same text from January 2018 an even sent text STOP in February. Just received another text today which said Freetext but I called my provider VIRGIN who told my there was a charge just for receiving the premium text. I have emailed the address in the text and as per Virgin instructions have texted STOPALL to 70207. When the new data protection laws come in to effect in May I have the right to sue these people!

email the company secretsalescodes and complain they will remove you off their listing and refund you Β£4.50 via a text you produce at the post office.. i have just received my text this morning, it will be an MCOM payment and the clerk should know how to refund it.. i never subscribed and sent them an email complaining and asking to prove where i had subscribed, they offered to refund me with a post office payment which i was sceptical about, but it's arrived..

I received a text saying that I had subscribed to their service (I hadn't), so initially blocked it. Then I looked into it, and the initial text that THEY sent to ME cost me Β£3.70 and I learned that if you block the number without texting STOP to 60031 the cost will just mount up. It's a money making scam and highly illegal. Pity there is nobody about to stop this disgraceful invasion of privacy and blatant theft. Secretsalescodes and Mobtech, you are a disgrace.

Follow on from original post on the 30th When i called the 0118 number they can confirm that the service has been stopped but could not tell me where it had been signed up from (weird....) The numbr on the on the orginal txt msg goes to an answering machine so i went back to O2. When i finally was able to speak to someone on the phone they said they would give me back the money as a good will gesture. This is probably the best bet to get your money back.
